LACMA

Art & Culture2013-2015
[Project Image: LACMA]

As LACMA's first Social Media Manager, Maritza revolutionized how museums engage with

digital audiences. Her groundbreaking work positioned LACMA as the first museum globally

to launch on Snapchat, creating innovative campaigns that made art accessible and

engaging for younger audiences.

Maritza's most notable campaigns included "Art History's Meme Queen," which transformed

classical art into viral memes, and "Our Selfies, Our Selves," which explored the

intersection of self-portraiture and social media. These campaigns increased LACMA's

social media engagement by over 400% and attracted a new generation of museum visitors.

Her innovative approach to museum social media has been studied and replicated by

cultural institutions worldwide, establishing new standards for digital engagement

in the arts sector.
